Colon Cleanse Naturally
Before you reach for a colon cleansing product, consider the easy changes you can make to your diet. Keeping your colon clean is necessary and not difficult at all. Adding the following fresh foods to your diet will cleanse the colon and help prevent future problems. Certain foods are the most beneficial.
What is the colon?
The colon is also known as the large intestine and is the waste management system in your body. If your colon is clogged it will allow toxins to back up into your bloodstream and liver. Keeping the colon clean is necessary for eliminating a variety of health problems.
What health problems?
These health problems include bladder and kidney infections, abdominal cramps, constipation, body odor, bad breath, vaginal yeast infections, and fungus on the toes and fingernails. Eating a variety of readily available foods will keep the colon clean.
What foods?
1 - Vegetables - The high fiber in vegetables is essential for colon cleansing. Eating raw vegetables will also provide the most nutrients - these vegetables are spinach, Swiss chard, green peas and snow peas. Also prepare Brussels sprouts, turnips, beets, carrots, broccoli, kale, rhubarb, winter squash, parsnips, and potatoes with the skin on.
2 - Fruit - Enjoy raw fruit - with the peel. Fruit is fiber-rich with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Highly recommended for colon cleansing are apples with the peel, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, figs, dates, pears, avocados and prunes.
Prunes are high on the ORAC scale - see link below for the many benefits of prunes.
Note: I always recommend organic, home grown or locally grown fresh produce.
3 - Beans - Beans are also known as legumes, and all kinds are nutritional and are beneficial for cleansing the colon. Enjoy black beans, navy beans, lima beans, kidney beans, black eyed peas, split peas, and lentils. Peanuts are legumes and are also beneficial.
4 - Juices - Juice made from fresh vegetables and fruits also have colon cleansing properties. Fresh juices contain fiber, enzymes and cleansing salts and have enough water content to flush waste and toxins from the colon.
Note: Bottled juices are not effective because the enzymes are not alive.
5 - Nuts and Seeds - Nuts and seeds are beneficial for cleansing the colon but they should be raw and unprocessed. Nuts and seeds add needed fiber and can be eaten as is or you can add them to cereals and salads. Flax seeds are the most beneficial. Also recommended are Brazil nuts, pine nuts, hazel nuts, almonds, soy nuts, pistachios, macadamias, and sesame and sunflower seeds.
If you prefer to try a cereal, consider cereal with the following grains:
6 - Fiber-rich Cereals - Fiber-rich cereal grains will help keep the colon clean. Beneficial fiber cereals are wheat, rye, oatmeal and oat bran, rye, barley, and flax.
